Their Olympic special version of Absolutely Fabulous was loved by some and panned by the critics.

But now Eddie and Patsy, the TV comedy duo who launched a thousand gay catty comments – and then some – have had their ‘moment to shine’, carrying the Olympic torch through central London.

With Olympic hype building ahead of the opening ceremony tomorrow (27 July), thousands of journalists are poised to report on every moment of the games.

But few had predicted that Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley would have the chance to take their Ab Fab spoof of the Olympics and turn it into reality.

Here’s the first picture we could find of that moment, courtesy of the BBC’s Priya Patel, who tweeted: ‘This is absolutely fab sweetie dharling sweetie yah… #eddieandpatsy run with #Olympictorch.’
