Amazon Kindle celebrates gay marriage in new ad

A gay twist is revealed at the end of an advert for the new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon Kindle celebrates gay marriage in new ad
21 February 2013

Marriage equality is being celebrated in the latest advertisement for the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

In the TV spot, a man and woman bond over their e-readers while sunbathing next to one another.

The man is frustrated as he attempts to read on his clearly inferior tablet in the bright sun, while the woman calmly reads from her new Kindle.

Seeing how much better the woman’s reading experience is, the man proceeds to buy a brand new Kindle *wink*. The man suggests then they celebrate.

That’s when the gay twist is revealed, as the couple do not only both love reading at the beach, but they both have husbands.

Last year, Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos donated $2.5 million to the marriage equality fight in the company’s home state of Washington.

The company also receives high ratings in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
