Hollywood action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger claims he was beaten by his dad because he thought he was gay.

In a tell-all interview to promote his memoir Total Recall, the Terminator star told US TV show 60 Minutes that his parents thought he was gay when he was a teenager.

The 65-year-old former Governor of California said his mother took him to the doctor to try and cure him, while his dad resorted to violence because there was ‘something off’.

‘He ran after me with a belt and beat me,’ he revealed.

Arnie added: ‘I don’t know if mum thought I was gay, or if she just thought there was something off. And "let’s catch it early".

‘She asked the doctor, "Can you help me? I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my son because his wall is full of naked men".

‘All of Arnold’s friends have pictures of girls above their bed. And Arnold has no girls.’

Schwarzenegger, who is still married to Maria Shriver despite admitting multiple affairs, also revealed during the interview that he conducted two gay weddings in his office during his time as California governor.
