Bisexual author Bret Easton Ellis has revealed on Twitter that US porn star James Deen is now in the running to play the lead in a Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

Despite gay actor Matt Bomer being tipped for the role, the American Psycho writer claims that Deen may have bagged the coveted part as kinky business magnate Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of E L James’s erotic bestseller.

‘Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in "Fifty Shades of Grey" with EL James support,’ tweeted Ellis, who is currently working as screenwriter with Deen on The Canyons.

Ellis previously slammed rumors of Bomer’s casting in the film, claiming his  sexuality ‘complicates the role’ of a straight businessman whose sadomasicistic sex life has titilated readers around the world.

The author has publicly expressed his desire to adapt the novel into a screenplay but confirmed that he is no longer in the running for the project.
