If the first trailer for Pedro Almódovar’s latest film is anything to go by, gay fans are in for a hoot when I’m So Excited hits cinema screens next year.

The teaser for the gay Spanish director’s hotly anticipated movie sees three flamboyant male air stewards (Javier Cámara, Carlos Areces and Raúl Arévalo) providing their own in-flight entertainment by dancing to the titular camp 80s disco classic by The Pointer Sisters.

Starring Almódovar regulars Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz, the acclaimed filmmaker’s new project looks set to be a welcome comic relief to last year’s dark body shock thriller The Skin I Live In.

Almódovar’s work often uses symbolism and metaphorical techniques to portray circular storylines and frequently portrays strong female characters and transgenders.
