Canadian actress Zoie Palmer, who plays lesbian doctor Lauren Lewis on the supernatural drama Lost Girl, has come out as gay during an acceptance speech at the Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday.

Palmer won the Fan Favorite category and thanked, among others, her ‘incredible partner Alex and beautiful son Luca.’

Palmer was referring to her long-term partner, film at television producer Alex Lalonde, and her son by a previous relationship Luca Lalonde.

Lalonde was with Palmer at the awards night and tweeted, ‘Zoie just won the CSA cuz all you amazing fans voted!!’ from the ceremony.

Palmer’s character is in an on-again-off-again love triangle with the show’s main character Bo Dennis who is a bisexual life-sucking succubus caught between the light and dark factions of a hidden community of supernatural beings.

Lost Girl is in its fourth season and screens on Canada’s Showcase network.
