Fans who have not yet seen this week’s episode of ABC’s Scandal you’ve been warned.

This is a SPOILER ALERT. Do not read any further if you don’t want to know which series regular has been killed off.

Here we go: The character who meets her demise Liz North, the Republican operative who was introduced during season four.

North, who is played by Portia De Rossi, is brutally murdered in a fight for political power.

‘I am incredibly grateful for my time here at Scandal,’ De Rossi said in a statement.

‘I will miss playing Elizabeth North but I’ve made the decision to focus on a business opportunity. I will always love my Scandal family. I’ll be watching!’

De Rossi did not reveal details of her future professional plans or say if they involve wife Ellen DeGeneres.

The show’s creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes wished De Rossi ‘all the best’ in a statement.

‘Portia infused Liz North with a smart powerful vulnerable soul while also making the humor sing — and that brought all of us in the writers room a lot of joy,’ Rhimes said.

‘If I could keep her forever, I would — but kidnapping is illegal.’

De Rossi had previously been a regular on the series Ally McBeal, Arrested Development and Better off Ted and had a recurring role on Nip/Tuck.
