Conan O’Brien imagines date between Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow

Comic Conan O'Brien makes a joke about a Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper date at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Conan O’Brien imagines date between Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow
28 April 2013

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is often called an adult prom for nerds. Political journalists wear tuxedoes and evening gowns while drinking with high powered politicians, including the president of the United States.

A comedian usually is selected to skewer everyone in attendance. Late night host Conan O’Brien was hired to speak at yesterday’s (27 April) event. The comic spared no one, even comparing the difficult relationship between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner to a date between out journalists Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow.

‘President Obama and John Boehner are kind of like a blind date between Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow,’ O’Brien quipped. ‘In theory, they understand each other’s positions, but deep down you know nothing is ever going to happen.’

Below is the entire clip of O’Brien’s speech.
