Dan Savage on Mitt Romney: ‘By my estimation, that man is a homophobe’
21 September 2012

Syndicated columnist and It Gets Better founder Dan Savage is no fan of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The openly Savage, who received a special Emmy Award last weekend for the It Gets Better online and television campaign, appeared on Current TV’s Say Anything with Joy Behar and took Romney to task for his anti-gay policies.

Savage told guest host John Fugelsang that he doesn’t distinguish ‘between an honest bigot and a dishonest bigot’ and that he considers Romney to be ‘100 percent anti-gay.’

‘Whether someone punches you in the nose because they really hate you, or they punch you in the nose because they want to impress people who hate you, you still have a broken goddamn nose,’ he says. ‘What I care about is policy, and his policies are homophobic, and by my estimation, that man is a homophobe.’
