The Greek police restrained approximately 50 protestors of a gay pride parade.
The march, held in northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, was attended by about 400 people. As reported by the Washington Post, they were pelted with eggs and plastic bottles. The police restrained the attackers. No injures were reported.
In the past week Anthimos, the local Greek Orthodox cleric, spoke out against the parade. The cleric, known only by his first name, has a history of talking about social and political issues.
The country's capital, Athens, has held an annual parade without incident.
