Gay pop legend Elton John and partner David Furnish have become parents for the second time, it was confirmed.

Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born in Los Angeles via a surrogate on Friday evening (11 January).

Speaking to Hello, the happy couple said: ‘Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.

‘The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.

‘It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.’

On 10 January, it was rumored John, 65, and Furnish, 50, had added to their family but a spokesperson refuted the reports.

Last month, the couple was also alleged to have bought a new property in Los Angeles because they were preparing for the new arrival.

In 2012, the ‘Tiny Dancer’ singer described how he hoped his son would have a sibling.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: ‘I think it’s difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous.

‘I want him to have a sibling so he has someone to be with. I know when he goes to school there’s going to be an awful lot of pressure, and I know he’s going to have people saying, “You don’t have a mummy.”

‘It’s going to happen. We talked about it before we had him. I want someone to be at his side and back him up. We shall see.’
