Family refuses to tip waitress, former marine due to her ‘gay lifestyle’

‘I am THOROUGHLY offended, mad, pissed off and hurt that THIS is what her kids will grow up learning and that I served in the Marines to keep ignorant people like them free'
Former marine working as a waitress was left a horrific note on a receipt saying the family had refused to tip because of her 'gay lifestyle'.

Could this family be the worst tippers ever?

A gay former marine, currently working as a waitress at an Asian restaurant in Bridgewater, New Jersey, has spoken out about the alleged horrific treatment she received from a couple with two young children.

Dayna Morales, a server at Gallop Asian Bistro, introduced herself to the family.

Shocked by her short hair, the mother allegedly said ‘Oh, I thought you were gonna say your name is Dan! You sure surprised us!’

But it got worse when, after the family had paid for their meal, Morales discovered they had allegedly left a note on the check.

‘Sorry, I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and the way you live your life.’

‘NEVER in a million years did I think this would happen,’ Morales said, in an email to Have A Gay Day.

‘I am THOROUGHLY offended mad pissed off and hurt that THIS is what her kids will grow up learning and that I served in the Marines to keep ignorant people like them free.

‘Sorry lady but I don't agree with YOUR lifestyle and the way you're raising your kids but you didn't see me throwing that in your face and giving you shitty service.

‘Keep your damn mouth shut and pray we never cross paths again.’

After the LGBT Facebook group posted it on the page, it received hundreds of supportive comments.

‘Thanks everyone for your support,’ Morales said.

‘It took every fiber of my being not to spit in their food and say something.

‘(Not gonna lie if kids weren't there it would of been a totally different story)’

In October, a similar incident happened when a Christian couple stiffed a Kansas City gay waiter and left a note calling him a ‘fag’.

‘We cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to GOD,’ the note said.

‘Queers do not share in the wealth of GOD, and you will not share in ours.

‘We hope you will see the tip your fag choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly.’

Not only were these people beyond obnoxious the IRS assumes a certain level of income from tips - it is up to the waiter, or waitress, to prove the contrary. It is decidedly the exception where I choose not to tip and ALWAYS for exceptionally poor service.
I could opt not to tip a person wearing a cross, or crucifix, but that would be as bad as this family.

In the United States, tips are considered part of one's income. In fact, in most locations, wages can be lowered beneath the prevailing minimum wage in reliance on the assumption that tips will make up the difference. By denying this woman her properly earned tip, this allegedly "Christian" family was unilaterally denying her part of her earned income. To me that equates to theft which I do not understand to be a Christian value, even to those right wing zealots who bastardize the concept of Christianity for their own purposes. Their lifestyle, in which they may sit in judgement of who is paid for their work and who is not, is odious to me. The remedy will have to be to automatically include tips on a bill as they do in many locations on this planet.

An automatic gratuity is odious as it assumes good service. While service in most restaurants is generally good, or at least acceptable, occasionally it is not. If a waitress cannot be bothered to provide the service she was hired for she has not earned a tip.
I have been dining out regularly for 35 years and only felt the service fell to this level twice, but it has happened.
