Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts and Matt Bomer are featured in biggest look yet inside movie adaptation of Larry Kramer's acclaimed play
HBO today released the first full trailer of its upcoming film The Normal Heart which shows stars Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts and Matt Bomer in dramatic and emotional scenes.
The film, which premieres on 25 May, is based on Larry Kramer’s acclaimed play about the early days of the AIDS crisis in New York City.
Roberts, who plays a doctor in the film, says in the film: ‘I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this – it seems to be only happening to gay men.’
She is seen in a later scene trying to warn a roomful of gay men at a meeting: ‘You are all going to infect each other.’
Ruffalo is the film’s main protagonist who is fighting to make government leaders pay attention to the growing crisis saying at one point in frustration: ‘We have to do something – no one else will.’
Bomer plays Ruffalo’s partner in the film which also stars Jim Parsons and Taylor Kitsch. It was directed by Ryan Murphy.
