Video montage teases the films selected for the 2013 Iris Prize
Lucas Rising is shortlisted for the gay film festvial Iris Prize.

A gay film festival has released a montage of the best gay cinema today (2 September).

The Iris Film Festival in Cardiff is getting ready to announce who will win the prestigious film prize awarded to the best short film with a gay or lesbian theme.

The team behind the prize have released a video to whet the appetites of audiences, showing clips of the 30 films nominated.

The two minute video is a glimpse into what viewers can expect from the films that have been cherry picked by festival director Berwyn Rowlands which explore and dissect a range of different queer experiences.

Rowlands believes this year is a particular highlight for the prize.

‘The video gives a real sense of the diversity of stories that we have – from sexy and erotic through to painful and distressing. Things that we all experience’, he told Gay Star News.

From heart-breaking confessions, awkward kissing and some Lady Gaga lip-synching the video is a tantalizing look into what each film has to offer.

Over a five day period in October a jury of esteemed judges will select winners in several categories such as best UK short, best feature and best actor and best actress. The festival will also be host to talks and sessions from industry insiders regarding some of the most pressing issues relating to the film industry today.

The festival is just five weeks away, and lasts from 9-13 October, and the box office officially opened so tickets can be bought easily via their website.
