When you are in a relationship, you learn that sometimes there is one thing two people will never agree on.

For gay model Austin Armacost and fashion designer Marc Jacobs, that issue was fur.

Now the couple has split, the pin-up has spoken out by shedding his clothes for a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) campaign.

‘As a gay model, I have always been dismayed that some otherwise progressive people in the gay fashion pack have such disregard for the animals who are skinned alive for coats, collars, or cuffs [including my ex Marc Jacobs],’ he told PETA.

The photographs show Armacost posing on a runway in the buff, holding a sign saying ‘Turn your back on fur.’

Armacost, who has starred in gay channel Logo’s reality show ‘The A List: New York’, met Jacobs on MySpace when he was 18. He is currently dating husband Jake, who he lives with in the UK.

In an interview with the New York Post, he said: ‘Being a part of Marc’s world for a little bit, and seeing him use fur and hides from alligators for leather, then meeting Dan six years later, it’s all come full circle.’

PETA spokesman Dan Matthews said the gay community, at large, has avoided wearing fur but ‘there’s gay stylists and designers that keep it visible.’

Armacost joins celebrities such as Penelope Cruz, Pamela Anderson, and Khloe Kardashian who has posed naked for PETA.

The Humane Society estimates over 50 million animals are killed every year in the name of fashion.
