George Michael is taking a well deserved holiday following a near fatal dose of pneumonia which caused him to cancel his European Symphonica tour.
The 48-year-old singer and his hairdresser boyfriend Fadi Fawaz have jetted off to Amsterdam to enjoy a four-day mini-break.
During a press conference following his release from the AKH clinic in Vienna, Austria last December, Michael admitted that he had played down the seriousness of his illness: 'I'd say it was touch and go for a few weeks. And I played it down, I didn't want to worry my fans too much and I'm really sorry that I couldn't contact them in any way before now, but I was in no state to.'
While his choice of destination has raised a few eyebrows, the Faith hitmaker insists that he's behaving himself and is not there for the relaxed cannabis laws, telling photographers: 'I know what you are thinking and you are wrong.'
In 2010 Michael underwent narcotics counselling for his cannabis use after he crashed a car while under the influence of the Class B drug. The former Wham! singer was jailed for eight weeks, fined £1,250 ($1,924 €1,504) and given a five year driving ban as a punishment.
It was the fifth time he had been in trouble for driving offences.
