Two homophobic Kuwaiti youths were knifed by the friends of a gay man they had been harassing in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Kuwait Times, the youths were lured into an ambush by six men after harassing a gay man in the Al-Adan District of the Kuwaiti governorate of Mubarak Al-Kabeer.

The youths were taken by ambulance to the intensive care unit of Adan Hospital after receiving stab wounds during the attack.

Detectives arrested two suspects in the attack at a nearby house and are still seeking the other four.

Police told the Kuwaiti Times that the men had told them they had lured the teens into the trap ‘after they harassed a homosexual man known to them.’

Kuwait punishes sex between men over the age of 21 with up to seven years imprisonment, although it does not punish sex between women, making it one of the more liberal Arab states on the issue.

However Kuwaiti authorities have blocked attempts by LGBT rights groups to register with the government, and 149 people were arrested in a crackdown on so-called ‘immoral behavior’ in May, including six LGBTs.
