MTV and its sister network Logo are preparing an It Gets Better special to air on Feb. 21.
It will be hosted by syndicated columnist Dan Savage.
The one-hour special, which will air on both channels, will focus on the struggles of three LGBT youth.
It is an outgrowth of the It Gets Better video project launched by Savage in 2010 which has resulted more than 30,000 videos of encouragement for LGBT youth facing harassment.
The It Gets Better videos seek to give LGBT youth an idea of what their lives can be as openly gay adults - a future they may not be able to picture for themselves under their current circumstances.
The videos have mostly been from regular people but some famous faces have participated including President Barack Obama, Neil Patrick Harris, Tim Gunn and some professional sports teams.
Savage will be joined on the It Gets Better TV special by Zachary Quinto, Margaret Cho, Chaz Bono and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Below is a clip from the special featuring an emotional conversation between a young lesbian named Vanessa and her mother who is not only having trouble adjusting to the fact that her daughter is a lesbian, but also that she chooses to dress and act in what the mother feels is a non-feminine way.
