A trailer for James Franco's latest film about a gay S&M scene cut from 80s thriller 'Cruising' is out and sees the Oscar nominee play an actor forced to explore the limits of his sexuality.
'Interior. Leather Bar' is inspired by the 40 minutes of footage which director William Friedkin was forced to drop from the Al Pacino movie to avoid receiving an X rating for its cinema release.
The film, which is part of the Sundance Film Festival's official selection, is a world away from Franco's part in upcoming Disney fantasy 'Oz: The Great and Powerful'.
Made by the Spider-Man star and his friend Travis Mathews, the raunchy feature is sure to raise a few eyebrows from viewers used to seeing the actor in more family-friendly roles.
'Amid the backdrop of a frenzied film set actor Val Lauren reluctantly agrees to take the lead in the film,' the synopsis reads.
'Val is repeatedly forced to negotiate his boundaries during scenes on and “off camera,” as unsimulated gay sex happens around him.
'The film itself is constructed as a play with boundaries remaining queer in subject and form. As much a film about filmmaking as it is about an exploration of sexual and creative freedom, “Interior. Leather Bar.” defies easy categorization.'
