Outspoken US television personality Joy Behar is wondering how gay Republican groups such as GOPround and Log Cabin Repulicans could endorse Mitt Romney for US President.

‘Why are they voting for someone who’s against gay marriage, gays in the military?’ the host of Current TV’s Say Anything tells The Advocate. ‘The Republican platform wants to roll back into ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’ I mean, that is completely retro. It’s not all about your pocketbook, guys. I guess they feel their money will protect them from homophobia. A lot of people felt that way, in like Germany, for example.’

Behar, a co-host on ABC’s The View since 1997, is an outspoken liberal who has made the discussion of LGBT issues a regular feature on Say Anything as well as on her previous show on HLN.

She received a special award from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and said at the time that it meant more to her than even winning an Oscar would.

‘First of all, the chances of my getting an Oscar are zero or less,’ Behar admits. ‘But if I were up for an Oscar, I’d prefer the GLAAD Award because it meant to me that I actually made a difference in someone’s life. But I personally, apparently, have made a difference in the gay community.’
