Lady Gaga makes her acting debut this year.

The international pop sensation is playing La Chameleon in Machete Kills, the action thriller sequel to 2010’s Machete. The film’s director Robert Rodriguez, also directed graphic novel-turned movie Sin City and Once Upon A Time in Mexico.

In July 2012, Lady Gaga unveiled a picture of her character wrapped in a wolf’s skin and brandishing a smoking gun.

She recently tweeted about her upcoming role: ‘I am so excited. Filming was insane’.

Originally set to debut in 2012, Machete Kills encountered a major setback when the first Machete’s production company sued Rodriguez. The lawsuit remains unresolved but the film will premiere 13 September.

The film also stars Danny Trejo, Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard and Sin City’s Jessica Alba.
