Lesbian hockey fan breaks ice with half-time proposal

Girlfriends rooting for opposing teams get engaged during ice hockey half-time show in Canada

Lesbian hockey fan breaks ice with half-time proposal
20 March 2012

A lesbian couple stole the half-time show at a Canadian ice hockey match with a surprise wedding proposal.

During the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Ottawa Senators hockey game, on Saturday 17 March, the lucky girl wearing a Maple Leafs jersey was led onto the ice and shown the scoreboard above the rink that read: ‘My love for you is a journey, starting at forever and ending at never. You’re my world Zing, XOX.’

Her girlfriend, wearing a Senators scarf, made her way onto the ice, got down on bended knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

The clever proposal even included the mascot, a lion, who held up a sign announcing ‘She said yes!’
