The male cast of King Kong the Musical have performed ‘Big Spender,’ at Twisted Broadway Melbourne

Twisted Broadway Melbourne is an annual charity event raising money for Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and this year performers were asked to sing a song from the opposite gender.

The cast of King Kong chose Big Spender, written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields for the musical Sweet Charity, resulting in a raunchy performance.

The King Kong musical has been so successful that performances have been extended three times and it is now due to run until November 10.

The musical features a 6 meter tall animatronic ape - one of the largest animatronic puppets ever constructed.

Whether the musical ever makes it to Broadway is in doubt though.

‘The musical's Broadway arrival depends on the availability of a Broadway theater with enough backstage space to accommodate the elaborate production,’ Playbill reports.

The male cast of King Kong recently stripped down for a photo shoot for Australia’s DNA Magazine which will appear in its October issue.
