It wasn't news to Matt Bomer's co-stars on the TV drama White Collar that the actor is gay.
But Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen are both showing their support for Bomer's decision to publicly acknowledge his longtime partner, Simon Halls, and their three kids as he accepted an award last weekend in Palm Springs.
'I love him, love him, love him, and I am so proud of him,' DeKay told EOnline.com this week. 'He's just a fantastic individual and I thought he did it in a very classy, elegant and eloquent way.'
DeKay plays FBI Special Agent Peter Burke on the highly-rated USA Network series oppsite Bomer as con-man Neal Caffrey. The actor believes that his co-star's public step will be of help to others coming out.
'I can't imagine how many guys or gals were out there going, 'If he could do it, I could do it,' Dekay said.
Theissen, who plays DeKay's wife on then show, added: 'I adore Matt. I adore his family. I think he's beautiful and I think his family is beautiful.'
DeKay and Theissen made their remarks at a storytelling event in West Hollywood presented by USA Network and The Moth. It featured five people, including Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black, telling personal stories of how they overcame prejudice.
Bomer was on hand to introduce the program and in his opening remarks said: 'When somebody who might be outside your comfort zone, be it because of their religion, their race, their sexual preference [or] their handicap gets up and says their story and their experience in front of you, a little bit of ignorance melts away in all of us and we realize we are all basically the same.'
