Model Hari Nef has become the first trans woman to say ‘because I’m worth it’ in a L’Oréal Paris advertising campaign.
Airing last night during the Golden Globes broadcast, the new L’Oréal Paris ad campaign is intended to celebrate the beauty of diversity.
The minute-long spot, for the brand’s True Match foundation line, features models of different races and shapes including Blake Lively, Lara Stone, Alexina Graham, Xiao Wen Ju, Sabina Karlsson and Marquita Pring.
Nef tweeted: ‘I’m in a L’Oréal campaign and that’s wild to me.’

Longer spots were also revealed on L’Oréal’s YouTube page and Twitter feeds.
‘Skin is the first thing you see,’ she says in the ad. ‘Just being seen in your skin can be so vulnerable.’

The move was celebrated online after L’Oréal Paris confirmed Nef is the first trans model to be a spokesperson for any of their campaigns.
‘A trans woman just gave the “Because I’m Worth It” on a L’Oréal commercial,’ gay comedian and Pop Rocket podcast host Guy Branum said.
