New NY Mets player Noah Syndergaard apologizes for tweeting anti-gay slur
19 December 2012

Less than 24 hours ago, rookie pitcher Noah Syndergaard had written on his Twitter accoint: ‘I am extremely excited to start a new path with the New York . Proud to call myself a Met!!’

But it is another tweet, allegedly posted on 9 December, that has the player in potential hot water.

It read: ‘@DMarze89 nice crocs fag lol,’according to the New York Daily News.

The tweet from the 20 year old has since been deleted and Syndergaard, who was acquired by the Mets on Monday has apologized.

‘I had a mishap on Twitter that was brought to my attention this morning,’ Syndergaard said in a statement. ‘I apologize for anything that was said. My buddy and I were having some fun and it was a poor attempt at humor.’

‘I’m sorry for what I said. I hope I didn’t offend anyone,’ he added. ‘I’m also sorry my first introduction as a New York Met had to be like this.’’
