No gong for Jessie J and Adele called 'tranny' at Brits

Bisexual singer Jessie J wins nothing at UK's Brit Awards, while host James Corden hits a low note with Adele 'tranny' gag
It was a disappointing night for Jessie J at the Brits, winning nothing despite up for three gongs

Despite up for three gongs, bisexual pop star Jessie J left tonight’s Brit Awards in London empty-handed.

While the show’s host James Corden called Adele a ‘tranny’ in a joke that transgender viewers may have found in poor taste.

The Price Tag singer, who was awarded the Brits Critics' Choice prize for 2011, was up for gongs in the categories of British Female Solo Artist, British Single and British Breakthrough Act

However, she had tough competition from fellow UK artists, including Adele, who won British Female Solo Artist and Ed Sheeran who took British Male Solo Artist and Breakthrough Act.

George Michael also made a surprise appearance, telling the audience he had flown all the way from Australia to present Adele with her second accolade of the evening, the Mastercard British Album of the Year award.

However, the annual awards were not without controversy, with the evening’s host cracking a gag about trans people.

After Kylie presented Adele with an award, Adele joked she looked like a drag queen in her heels next to the pint-sized pop princess.

To which comedian Corden replied: ‘That’s one successful tranny.’

Jessie J shot to fame in 2010 with single Do It Like A Dude, which peaked at number two in the UK charts.

After scoring her first number one in the UK, France, Ireland and New Zealand with the song Price Tag, she released her debut album Who You Are last year, which charted at number two in the UK.
