Josh Dixon is one step closer to participating in London’s Summer Olympics.

The US gymnast came in 13th at this weekend’s Visa Championship. That means he qualifies for the Olympics Trials, to be held in his hometown of San Jose, California. He will be battling for one of the six sport for Team USA. The competition will be held from June 28 to July 1.

‘I’m excited, but more humbled and honored that the selection committee deemed me in the elite group of 15 guys who even get the opportunity to compete at our Olympic Trials,’ the Stanford University graduate told Outsports. ‘I’ve always dreamed of being one of the top gymnasts in the country. Now that I’m in that group, it’s a tremendous honor. However, there’s still a lot of work to be done and improvements to be made.’

Presently Dixon is the country’s only out Olympic hopeful. He was profiled by the sports blog Outsports in early May.
