Recently Miss Peru Cindy Mejia, stated in an interview that God wouldn't allow her to have a gay son, because you turn gay when your dad’s away, and she’s firmly going to raise children with a father. Alternatively, according to her, children become gay through being raped or being too close to mother and sisters from which they pick up ‘mannerisms’.

Her comments caused an uproar in the Peruvian media especially as Mejia initially said her statements were taken out of context and distorted, which turned out to be false when the whole recording of the interview was published online.  Opps!

Carlos Cacho, a famous Peruvian gay makeup artist called her a liar and said: ‘The poor girl is just stupid and ignorant, it’s not her fault she has a questionable IQ.’ While Celebrity host Rodrigo Gonzalez of the popular show Amor, Amor, Amor said Mejia’s ‘brain must have been hacked.’

Gorgeous gay pop star Ricky Martin, who is busy these days in his role as Che in the musical Evita on broadyway New York, noticed the unbeautiful opinions of ‘brain hacked’ Miss Peru and tweeted last weekend in Spanish: ‘What a shame and such foolish comments. #ignorance’.

Indeed the beauty queen has been crowned Miss Homophobia on twitter (Spanish hasghtag #MissHomofobia), while many suggested she’d have to loose the crown.

Miss Peru obviously wants to keep her crown but loose the title Miss Homophobia, so she made a public apology to the nation’s gay rights group saying: 'I deeply regret that these statements contribute to encourage discrimination and violence towards LGBT people. This is why I commit to combat homophobia and sexism in my role as Miss Peru.’

Err, blonde moment?
