British pop singer Robbie Williams used his appearance at GQ's Men of the Year awards to bury persistant rumors about his sexuality and crack a gay joke about John Travolta.

The former Take That member attended the ceremony with his pregnant wife Ayda Field.

'I was Googling myself today and the first search that comes up is gay,' Williams admitted.

'I’ve got a wife that’s pregnant so that’s put paid to that one,' he said before joking that he could be deep in the closet doing the 'full John Travolta'.

The Grease star has been rocked by a string of apparently unfounded sexual accusations from male masseurs and Travolta’s former secretary, Joan Edwards, claimed that the Hollywood actor had a relationship with pilot Doug Gotterba.

Gotterba has since sold his story to US gossip magazine National Enquirer, claiming the Hollywood actor wanted to make a sex tape with him.

Travolta has denied all accusations made against him.
