Scholarship fund created for child of hit and run victim

Local leaders create fund for child of mother killed on Christmas Day
Street in Brooklyn, NY

On Christmas Day Donna Fountain, 38, crossed a street in Brooklyn and was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Discovered on the body was a list of dreams. According to reports, her hopes included buying a home when she reached 45, marrying the woman of her dreams, opening a home for gay and lesbian teens, and seeing her child graduate from college.

Local leaders and politicians have created a scholarship fund for Fountain's  8-year-old son Elijah. The fund started with a $25,000 donation.

"On Christmas morning, a nightmare took place where a mother was taken from her child. There's nothing we can do to stop that nightmare, but we can continue to dream of ensuring her son receives a quality education,” said state Senator Eric Adams as reported by NY1 News.

As of now there have been no arrests. There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to the driver's conviction.

For information about the fund, Adams' office can be reached by phone (718) 284-4700 or at its website.
