Sir Ian McKellen is believed to have married his fellow X-Men star and British acting legend Sir Patrick Stewart.

At the weekend, the Lord of the Rings actor conducted the ceremony at his friend’s nuptials to jazz singer Sunny Ozell.

The Star Trek: The Next Generation actor announced the news of this marriage on Twitter, sharing a pic of himself and his bride peeking out of a children’s ball pool.

It was accompanied by the words, ‘Yes, married.’

Back in March, McKellen announced he would be conducting his friend’s wedding ceremony.

‘I am going to marry Patrick," he revealed on the Jonathan Ross Show, adding: ‘Well, no, how else do you put that? I am going to officiate at his wedding.’

‘I did my part,’ he posted on Facebook at the weekend, with him showing a picture of himself holding a ‘Doctor Of Divinity’ certificate and a T-shirt saying ‘Minister’.

It is the second time McKellen has been called on to lead a ceremony, after he said ‘dearly beloved’ at a civil partnership ceremony for two other friends.
