A ‘straight’ ice hockey player was arrested last week for repeatedly grabbing a male cop’s butt.

Claude Giroux, the Philadelphia Flyers captain, spent a night in a prison cell after celebrating Canada Day in his local Ottawa bar.

When he reportedly repeatedly grabbed a male officer’s buttocks, he was hauled off to a local jail.

But following an investigation, and Giroux apologized for the ‘prank’, criminal charges will not be filed.

‘I regret my actions on Canada Day and sincerely apologize to my fans, teammates and the Philadelphia Flyers organization for my misguided attempt at humor,’ he said in a statement.

‘Following an investigation, law enforcement determined that charges are not warranted.

‘I have the utmost respect for law enforcement and apologize to the Ottawa Police Department and specifically the individual officer. I will be making no further public comment on this matter.’

The Philadelphia Flyers said they will also be dealing with incident internally.
