Strictly Come Dancing’s Louis Smith: I’m a gay icon

Olympic gymnast has promised if fans vote him into the final of the British reality show, he will dance topless
Strictly star and Olympic champion Louis Smith has said he's happy to be known as a 'gay icon'.

Olympian Louis Smith has said he’s happy being called a ‘gay icon’.

The 23-year-old silver medal-winning Olympic gymnast has revealed he is happy getting attention from both women and men.

‘I get lots of attention from females as well as males. It’s a big strange, apparently I’m a bit of a gay icon,’ he said.

‘I’m not a shy guy when it comes to getting your kit off and taking pictures.

‘I know I’m not fat and won’t look offensive, so it’s fine.’

Smith added he had some interest from an underwear company, but said he wouldn’t ‘come too cheap’.

But while he’s happy to have his gay fans, he says he is straight and single.

Smith said: ‘I would like to settle down and get married and have kids.

‘I would like stability. You live in this crazy life, so it’s nice to go home to a routine, to someone who treats you normally.’

Smith is currently appearing as a contestant on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, where he is one of seven celebrities still competing.
