A transgender teenager in Chicago has been found stabbed to death just four months after another trans woman was murdered nearby.

The 19-year-old was found dead in an abandoned building in the city’s South Austin neighbourhood, reported CBS Chicago.

Tiffany Gooden is the second black transgender woman to be murdered in the area in the last two months.

Paige Clay was shot to death in an alley three blocks away and according to trans activist Joy Morris the two women were friends.

June LaTrobe from Illinois Gender Advocates told CBS that transgender women of color ‘are the most vulnerable members of our community.’

She added that trans women often face seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

LaTrobe added: ‘Here is someone murdered for simply being themselves. It gets…frustrating doesn’t even quite put it.’

However, police investigating the murders don’t believe the two crimes are related.
