Lesbian X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan topped a list of music artists most searched on Google in the UK this year.

The internet search engine’s annual ‘Zeitgeist’ list revealed the singer-songwriter was this year’s top trending musician, beating One Direction, the Spice Girls and Korean rapper Psy.

Spraggan left the British version of the hit talent show early on in the contest due to illness.

She impressed viewers and judges with her self-penned songs.

The most overall searched items were football championship Euro 2012 at number one, Olympics tickets at number two and the late US soul singer Whitney Houston at number three.

James Bond’s comeback in Skyfall was crowned the most searched movie. The film became a gay hit after featuring a homoerotic scene between 007, played by Daniel Craig, and Javier Bardem’s villain Silva.

Following her tragic death in February, Houston was rumored to have had a lesbian relationship.
