Madonna honors TV journalist Anderson Cooper with a trophy at the GLAAD Media awards in New York 

Pop star Madonna presented CNN’s anchorman Anderson Cooper with a US gay media watchdog's top award in recognition of his standing and accomplishment as an openly gay journalist.

Presenting the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) watchdog’s award to Cooper, Madonna up dressed yesterday (16 March) as a Boy Scout Of America, complete with a brimmed hat and sporting a blonde locks hairdo.

She called upon the organization to ‘change their stupid rules’ and end the ban on gay youth.

There was a party going on all around Herndon Graddick at the GLAAD Media Awards in LA on Saturday night but the organization's new president seemed dead serious much of the time.

'This isn't just a party,' he told the crowd. 'This is a fundraiser that funds our organization 365 days a year. We're changing America bit by bit, story by story.'

Bono says he is 'truly honored' by award given for helping to promote LGBT equality

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced Tuesday (10 April) that Chaz Bono will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at its Los Angeles GLAAD Media Awards Ceremony later this month.

Bono, the only child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, was a popular contestant on ABC's Dancing With the Stars last fall and in a pair of recent documentaries chronicled his transition from a female named Chastity to a man named Chaz.
