Australia's finance minister Penny Wong has slammed the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) for comparing the children of gay couples to the 'stolen generations' of aboriginal children who were taken from their families.

'Redefining marriage ignore[s] the consequence of robbing children of their biological identity through same-sex surrogacy and other assisted reproductive technologies,' said ACL's managing director Lyle Shelton yesterday.

The Australian Christian Lobby has suggested that support for marriage equality may be being inspired by demonic forces

The chairman of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has told Australian public television that the fight over marriage equality represents a spiritual war and that supporters of marriage equality are supporting ‘evil’ and may be motivated by ‘the Devil.’

‘[Same-sex marriage is] against the kingdom of God by the Devil,’ ACL chairman Tony McLellan told ABC’s Lateline program.

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has declined an offer by a former Liberal Party state premier to speak in place of the Australian Prime Minister at its national conference after the organization’s head claimed that homosexuality was more dangerous than smoking.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard pulled out after ACL managing director Jim Wallace repeated the claim a second time.

Anti-marriage equality campaigners have been caught spreading misinformation in their fight against reform

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has been caught out using false claims to argue that marriage equality will impact on religious freedom after it claimed that Denmark had legislated to force all churches to marry same-sex couples.

“Australian Parliamentarians would be naive to think [that] activists will not target the church here after Denmark’s Parliament finally caved into their demands for church weddings,” the ACL’s managing director Jim Wallace said.
