UK planning to deport gay Nigerian refugee despite protest

Despite a major campaign, the UK reschedules the deportation of gay refugee Olalekan M Ayelokun back to Nigeria where he may face death

Last week, LGBT campaign organization AllOut had hundreds of British callers flood the phones of the Home Office demanding a halt to the deportation of a gay Nigerian man and called for clear guidelines for asylum claims based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Petition urges Ukraine president to stop anti-gay gag law

Generation will be 'forced into the shadows' if anti-gay 'propaganda' law is passed

Activists have launched a petition calling on the president of the Ukraine to denounce an anti-gay 'propaganda' bill.

The bill, similar to the one passed in St Petersburg, is expected to be voted on this week and would amend existing laws on ‘the protection of morals’, media and publishing, as well as the criminal code, effectively banning virtually all information on gay and bisexual issues and criminalizing LGBT human rights work in Ukraine.

AllOut launch video in support of LGBT people of Russia

Digital LGBT action group AllOut have recorded a video featuring Russians defiant in the face of the recent Saint Petersburg ‘gay propaganda’ law.

The law officially prevents the ‘propaganda of homosexuality to minors’ and campaigners have warned it will be used to gag any public discussion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. Last week it was used for the first time to arrest two activists from Moscow Pride.

Protests outside Russian embassies today against homophobic law

Campaign group calls for protests against bill that will criminalise the work of gay rights groups in St Petersburg

Condemnation from law-makers around the world and hundreds of thousands of signatures on a position has not stopped St Petersburg from pushing a bill through the legislature that will criminalise LGBT rights groups in the city.

Campaign group AllOut.org are calling on people all around the world to support LGBT Russians by gathering outside embassies and consulates to protest against the law today. AllOut.org are calling the protest ‘a last ditch effort to stop this bill in its tracks’ before the final vote on the bill tomorrow (Wednesday 29 February).

Campaign group urges bombardment of foreign ministries to prevent 'promotion of homosexuality' bill

In an update to news that the parliament in St Petersburg is likely to pass the second reading of a bill that criminalises expressing support for LGBT equality, campaign group AllOut is calling for an emergency bombardment of foreign ministries. Those who support LGBT activists in Russia are urged to contact their foreign ministry to call on them to challenge the move in St Petersburg.

Massive petition against Russian hate law

AllOut.org hands in 250,000 names against new ban on public mention of gay or trans issues

A petition signed by 250,000 people all over the world urging the European Union to support the human rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Russia was handed in on Tuesday (13 December).

Activist group AllOut.org gave the document to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Baroness Catherine Ashton, and the presidents of the LGBT Intergroup, MEPs Ulrike Lunacek and Michael Cashman, in Strasbourg.
