'Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers that ever lived, and he’s a big idol for me'

Adam Lambert's tenor voice has proven to be the perfect match for the classic songs of the rock band Queen so it's no surprise he would join forces with the surviving band members to do a tour this summer.

But Lambert wasn't always so sure that he would be able to step in successfully for the band's late, great lead singer Freddie Mercury.

'At first it was a little daunting when we did our first incarnation of this,' he said of a handful of European shows he did with the band in the summer of 2012.

Brian May says Lambert 'the only singer' who can deliver as lead singer of their classic songs

Adam Lambert announced today that he will be performing with the two surviving members of the classic rock band Queen in a 19-date North American tour this summer.

Lambert appeared on ABC's Good Morning America with Brian May and Roger Taylor for the announcement.

The American Idol alum called May and Taylor 'rock royalty' and described Queen as 'one of the quintessential rock bands of all time - they have formed music no one's ever heard before.'

'They've influenced bands for years to come,' he added.

Adam Lambert may not have won the American Idol crown but the season 8 runner-up returns to the show this week a superstar.

The Grammy nominee, the first openly gay artist to ever have an album reach the number one spot on the Billboard sales charts, likes what is happening to the singing competition this season.

'I think the show is doing a really good job this year of kind of revamping a little bit and keeping up with the times,' Lambert says.

Openly gay Amercian Idol alum gives failing grade to North Carolina congresswoman he wants to replace in US House of Reps

Clay Aiken, the runner-up on American Idol then the runner-up on Celebrity Apprentice, is hoping for a first-place finish that will land him in Washington DC.

The openly gay singer on Wednesday (5 February) announced that he is running for a seat in the US Congress.

'I'm not a politician,' he said in a video on his campaign website. 'I don't ever want to be one.'

Aiken, 35, hopes to unseat Tea Party Republican favorite Renee Ellmers in North Carolina's conservative 2nd congressional district.

Cheyenne Jackson has had plenty of snow on Christmas. So this year, the Tony Award nominated star is hoping for plenty of sunshine.

'I just moved to LA so I'll be spending it with my family in Laguna Beach,' Jackson tells Gay Star News. 'It will be my first time without snow - I'm excited. Me and my boyfriend are going to go out there.'

Singer tweets: 'Let me set the record straight. I’m Bi. Pun intended'

Crystal Bowersox, the singer who made it all the way to the finals of American Idol in 2010, seems to have started a trend when she quietly came out as bisexual last week on Twitter.

In the days since, actress Maria Bello came out as bi in a New York Times column and a day later Olympic diver Tom Daley did the same in a YouTube video.

But of the three, Bowersox is the only one to actually use the word 'bisexual.'

She tweeted to her followers: 'Let me set the record straight. I’m Bi. Pun intended.'

Imagine an alternative pop culture universe where Adam Lambert was cast as a kid on Glee instead of making his name on American Idol.

It could have happened.

The Grammy-nominated star says he auditioned for the Fox hit in his pre-Idol days.

'It’s funny because I actually auditioned for the show before it started before I was on Idol. The casting director was like. "Well, I love your voice but I think you’re too old to be in the show" and so I didn’t get it. And then Idol happened.'

He performed 10.

The Grammy Award nominated American Idol runner-up dazzled the crowd at Playhouse Hollywood with such hits as Whaddaya Want From Me.

Singer Clay Aiken paid a visit to The Dr. Oz Show Wednesday (28 November) to weigh in on controversial ex-gay reparative therapy who said he was 'heartbroken' that the topic was even being featured on the daytime syndicated show.

'Just by the nature of the name, reparative therapy, you're implying that something needs to be repaired - you're implying that something's wrong in the first place,' Aiken said. 'I think that puts people back 10 steps on their (coming out) journey and my journey took 10 years.'
