The world’s allegedly only LGBT political party from the Philippines has slammed an anti-gay Catholic group’s election bid after claiming homosexuals are part of a ‘culture of death’.

The Ang Prolife party filed for accreditation to run as a party list candidate in next year’s mid-term elections, stating their opposition to abortion, euthanasia and LGBT culture, which they claim destroys and undermines life and family values.

LGBT party Ang Ladlad hopes to win at least two seats in the Filipino mid-term polls next year

The reportedly only LGBT political party in the world has attempted once again to win seats in the Filipino mid-term polls next May.

As Ang Ladlad filed its petition for accreditation yesterday (18 May), Danton Remoto, chair emeritus for the party-list group whose name means 'coming out', revealed he is also negotiating with two or three parties for a slot in their senatorial slate, reported the Inquirer News.

Activists visit the House of Representatives yesterday, asking congress to protect their rights

Dozens of LGBT rights campaigners in the Philippines visited the House of Representatives yesterday to ask them to pass an anti-discrimination bill.

The activists had been invited by Congressman Teddy Casino who introduced a bill last year that askes the Philippines officially declare 17 May as National Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (NADAHO).
