'Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network'

Elisabeth Hasselbeck may no longer be on ABC's The View but that didn't stop her today from slamming the prospect of Rosie O'Donnell returning to the morning chatfest.

Former co-host appears on ABC daytime show for first time since stormy 2007 exit after blow-up with conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Rosie O'Donnell returned to ABC's The View on Friday and the first thing she wanted to know was this: 'Is Hasselbeck here?'

The former co-host knew, of course, that the conservative Hasselbeck had left the show lasrt year to join Fox News Channel. But she couldn't help but joke about the mother of all on-air battles that resulted in O'Donnell leaving the show and never returning.

'We had some good times, we had some bad times, but they were never boring,' co-host and executive producer Barbara Walters said as she introduced O'Donnell.

Former co-host of The View will guest on show where she and Elisabeth Hasslebeck once bitterly squared off

Rosie O'Donnell is heading back to The View - for just one day.

The lesbian television personality and actress ended her stormy year as moderator on the ABC talk show in 2007 with a heated argument with her conservative co-host Elisabeth Hassleback.

The argument (see video below) was one thing, but the fact that producers chose to put the women on a split-screen during part of it so enraged O'Donnell that she left three weeks before the end of her contract.

O'Donnell will appear on the show on 7 February.

Just a few weeks ago, Barbara Walters probably would not have had much interest in interviewing Miss Universe Canada contestant Jenna Talackova.

But once the Miss Universe Organization said Talackova could not compete in the pageant because she was not born female, she became a big story and is profiled by Walters tonight (6 April) on ABC's 20/20.
