A Christian group is accusing London mayor Boris Johnson of a ‘cover-up’ and pressuring officials into banning anti-gay posters from London buses

A Christian group is accusing Boris Johnson of mishandling a ban on anti-gay posters from London public transport.

According to the Telegraph, The Christian Legal Centre is accusing Johnson of a ‘cover up’, saying the mayor pressured officials into banning the anti-gay ads that read 'Not Gay! Ex-Gay, Post-Gay and Proud. Get Over It!'.

The Christian Legal Centre has submitted a request under the Freedom of Information Act to see all the documentation involved in the case.

Stonewall boss Ben Summerskill and Stop Hate UK say 42 months jail is not enough for Jordan Sheard who set light to gay teen Steven Simpson on his 18th birthday

The Attorney General is reviewing the sentence of a man who was given just three-and-a-half years jail for burning a gay teenager to death, Gay Star News has learned.

Steven Simpson, who had Asperger’s syndrome, a speech impairment and epilepsy was celebrating his 18th birthday when the incident happened in the early hours of 23 June last year.

Sir Stirling Moss, 83, has said it would be difficult for a gay actor to portray him as he has spent his life 'driving cars and chasing girls'

Motor racing star Sir Stirling Moss has said he does not want a ‘poofter’ to play him in a film.

In an interview where the former Formula One driver made the offensive comments, he said he would like James Bond actor Daniel Craig to portray him.

The 83-year-old said: ‘I hope the actor would be masculine – not a poofter or anything like that. Perhaps the guy from Skyfall.’

A 22-year-old gay man from Manchester has said he felt like a 'second-class citizen' after his story went viral

A gay couple has said they were refused a double room at a London hotel.

Nick Hurley, 22, and Gavin Maclean, 28, from Manchester, had booked a double room online at the Thistle City Barbican hotel in central London for 23 February.

They had planned to go and see two plays in the UK capital’s West End, but were ‘shocked’ when they were faced with homophobic treatment.

Sir Roger Gale makes reference to incest while speaking out agianst marriage equality in the House of Commons

A Conservative member of parliament has said if the UK government is serious about equality, they should create civil unions that include incestuous relationships.

Sir Roger Gale, who was knighted in the 2012 New Year Honours List, said a way forward in achieving equality would be abolishing civil partnerships and creating a new form of civil union for people of all sexualities.

Nine in 10 gay people want UK marriage equality, according to a new poll.

It showed 91% of over 2,000 lesbian, gay and bisexual adults across Britain are in favor of the government’s plans to legalize gay marriage in England and Wales.

The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill will have its second reading and be debated for the first time in the House of Commons on 5 February.

The YouGov poll also found support rose to 96% of gay people aged 35 and under.

Britain’s leading gay campaign organization asks supporters, gay and straight, to contact their Members of Parliament as same-sex marriage debate nears

Stonewall, Britain’s leading gay campaign organization, has urged its supporters to contact their Members of Parliament (MPs) and ask them to support equal marriage.

The call for help comes as the UK government publishes its Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill – which would equalize marriage laws in England and Wales. Separate legislation is being developed by the Scottish parliament.

Welsh teen Charlie Morgan is being blamed for Chelsea losing after Eden Hazard was sent off and given a three match ban

A Welsh teen has found fame after a Chelsea soccer star was sent off for appearing to kick him while attempting to retrieve the ball.

But Charlie Morgan, 17, is now facing a barrage of homophobic abuse on Twitter blaming him for Chelsea’s loss against Swansea.

Nicknamed ‘Ballboygate’, and with Chelsea facing the next few games without one of its star players, it prompted a fury on social networking sites.

Among the many homophobic insults hurled directly at the 17-year-old, @The_WhiteMist said: ‘u little fat gay prick. Hope he broke your ribs.’

Member of Parliament Iain Stewart says that gay issues are no longer the preserve of the left in British politics

Britain has seen a ‘sea change’ and LGBT issues are no longer party-political, gay Member of Parliament (MP) Iain Stewart has said.

Stewart, the Conservative representative for Milton Keynes South, made the comments on the BBC’s Daily Politics show today (21 January).

He suggested when he first became interested in politics in the late 80s and early 90s, being openly gay was not tolerated.

Accenture named as Britain’s best employer in annual list compiled by UK’s leading gay rights organization

Multinational management consultancy and tech firm Accenture has been named the top employer for gay people in Britain.

Accenture tops the 2013 Workplace Equality Index, compiled by gay rights organization Stonewall.

Gentoo, a housing company based in Sunderland, north east England comes second and the Co-operative, which provides a range of services from food retail to funerals, comes third.

Stonewall says the authorities must work to create an environment where a gay player feels able to come out

Gay rights campaigners are urging the UK’s Football Association to get tough on anti-gay hate in the sport.

Stonewall is working with the FA on initiatives to tackle the issue, but they say it is up to the authorities to create an environment in which players are not fearful about the consequences of coming out.

‘Anti-gay abuse is all too common on both terraces and pitches. This abuse almost always goes unchallenged,' Chief Executive Ben Summerskill said.

Stonewall calls on candidates in Police Commissioner election to pledge to tackle anti-gay crime

Stonewall has today launched a new campaign calling on candidates for Police and Crime Commissioner elections across England and Wales to promise to fight anti-gay hate crimes.

Those elected on 15 November will have extensive powers to set local policing priorities.

The UK gay rights charity will engage those newly elected to make sure they understand the needs and concerns of lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

Anti-gay hate crime remains a serious problem throughout the UK.

British gay campaign organization Stonewall has launched a new guide celebrating positive gay role models in our workplaces.

Sponsored by IBM, the guide includes Lord Waheed Alli, the TV guru who became Britain’s first openly gay member of the House of Lords, and lesser-known figures like Liam Nolan, head teacher of what is officially the most improved school in the UK ever.

Also in the guide Sally Drew, a senior management consultant at IBM talks about being a lesbian mom.

Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill said: 'Thousands of men who've been burdened with homophobic convictions can clear their names and Stonewall stands ready to help them.

'We never forget that the equality we enjoy today came too late for many.'

Gay actor Rupert Everett has ridiculed the idea of two men raising a child.

In an interview with the Sunday Times today (16 September), he said: ‘I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads.’

The 53-year-old actor, who is well known for playing a gay man who made Madonna pregnant in The Next Best Thing, said the gay community should not be offended as he does not consider himself a role model.
