According to new research, if you are exposed to homophobic content on social networks it will threaten your well-being by eroding your trust in the rest of society.

Carlotta Trevisan posted a picture of two lesbians and two soccer stars kissing to support gay rights, and Facebook deleted her profile claiming the picture violated their community standards

A Facebook user had her account deleted after posting a picture of two lesbians and two soccer players kissing to support the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT).

Facebook have since claimed the deleting of her profile was a mistake and had nothing to do with the photo.

Carlotta Trevisan, 28, from Turin, Italy posted the picture in support of gay equality on her profile on 15 May.

Millions of people changed their profile pic in favor of a version promoting the Human Rights Campaign for equal marriage

Millions of Facebook users turned their profile pictures for marriage equality last week, a Facebook report has found.

Roughly 2.7 million people in the US switched their main pics to the Human Rights Campaign image of a pink-on-red equal sign.

Users, as it is the internet, changed their profile photos to various versions of this image, some featuring Lion King characters, Star Wars storm-troopers and even Gay Star News ducks.

Hong Kong publicist Gigi Chao, 33, said she thought her dad’s HK$500 million (S$65m, £40m, €50m) offer was ‘quite entertaining’.

An advertisement for a cultural project against homophobia that featured two men kissing on the lips was temporarily removed from a Facebook page because it apparently breached the social media company's decency code.

The code bars images of a 'political, sexual or other sensitive' nature.

Singer Lance Bass has been threatened over Facebook by a man who writes that he wants to 'stab' Bass and 'play around with your blood.'

The former member of the band 'N Sync came out publicly in 2006 and has spoken out on such issues as anti-gay bullying and marriage equality.

The series of Facebook threats and name-calling came from a man named Ted Fau who called Bass an '[expletive] faggot' and asked 'Do you have HIV yet?'

Outraged protesters marched into the offices of a newspaper in Wellington, New Zealand, today, accusing the publication of transphobia.

The rally was organized by rights group The Queer Avengers after The Dominion Post printed columnist Rosemary McLeod's opinion piece 'Why I feel for the kids of ego-trippers'.
