Mormons leave church over gay marriage disputes

More than 100 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have held a mass resignation over issues of gay marriage and polygamy

Troubled by issues of polygamy and homophobia, over 100 members of the Mormon Church have resigned in Salt Lake City.

The rally marked the largest display of defiance from members of the Utah based church. The Mormon Church is infamous for its culture of obedience, but the organisers of the rally told the Huffington Post they mean no disrespect to restive Mormons.

Over 300 Mormon allies march at Utah Gay Pride

Mormons Building Bridges came out in their Sunday best and celebrated the LGBT community

Over 300 Mormon allies dropped their bibles and marched in Utah’s Gay Pride parade on Sunday (3 June).

The group Mormons Building Bridges said they wanted to send a message of love to the LGBT community, saying it was compatible with their faith.

It is the first time such a large group has participated in the Salt Lake City event, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
