Former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord George Carey is trying to wreck gay marriage in England and Wales by creating a new gold standard only straights can be part of – ‘traditional marriage’.

As a member of the House of Lords, he is proposing to amend the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill so it recognizes ‘traditional marriage’ as only being between a man and a woman.

British actor will return to play Malvolio in a Broadway run of Twelfth Night, a hit in the London's West End

British actor, broadcaster and comic attempted suicide while filming a documentary on how people’s lives have been impacted because of their sexuality.

During the filming of the documentary for the BBC, the TV personality met a range of people promoting gay rights and challenged those who oppose them.

He visited the United States where preachers claimed to be able to ‘cure’ gay people and Uganda where lawmakers are currently debating on the ‘Kill The Gays’ bill.

Three masked men attacked Nikolai Alekseev, who received minor injuries, as he was about to board a train leaving from Kostroma to Moscow, Russia

Nikolai Alekseev, co-founder of Moscow Pride and GayRussia was attacked, as he was about to board a train in Kostroma heading for Moscow, Russia.

Three skinheads dressed in black, wearing white masks that covered their faces, cycled right up to Alekseev, physically and verbally assaulting him, earlier today (5 June).

Alekseev recounted to Gay Star News, while recovering on his train journey: ‘I was about 100 meters from the train station when someone ran into my back with a bicycle.

British broadcaster, actor and comic has revealed he swallowed a huge amount of pills and vodka when filming on location

British broadcaster, actor and comic Stephen Fry has revealed he attempted suicide in 2012.

In an interview for Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre podcast, Fry explained he took a ‘huge number of pills’ and a lot of vodka.

Luckily, Fry said his producer found him in an ‘unconscious state’ and saved his life.

‘I am the victim of my own moods,’ the actor said, who has described his mental illness as ‘bipolar lite’.

The BBC has apologized for airing a debate on a radio show where a comedian said he could ‘cure’ gay broadcaster Clare Balding.

Colin Murray and Bob Mills were hosting the live quiz show Fighting Talk on Radio 5 when they began making disparaging remarks about Balding’s sexual orientation.

Lesbian TV presenter Clare Balding was the subject of disrespectful remarks from two BBC radio hosts this weekend.

Colin Murray and Bob Mills were hosting the live quiz show Fighting Talk on Radio 5 Saturday evening when they began making disparaging remarks about Balding’s sexual orientation.

Broadcast before the 9 pm watershed that marks the broadcast shift into more adult material, Colin Murray said in the live broadcast: ‘Give me 20 minutes with her and I’m pretty sure I could turn around Clare Balding’.

Yes, Britain’s upper chamber of parliament is to debate the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill for England and Wales – and it’s time to play House of Lords #EqualMarriage Bingo.

Forget two fat ladies or legs 11, this is bingo gone crazy from ‘bestiality’ to ‘polygamy’ to ‘marrying your son’.

It’s been invented by leading British gay and lesbian campaign organization Stonewall to poke fun at the extremists in the Lords who wish to derail LGBT marriage equality.

Marriage equality supporters make certain the British House of Lords hear their voices

Around 500 supporters of equal marriage attended a rally outside the UK parliament tonight (3 June) to show their support for marriage equality and to let peers debating and voting know how important the issue is to them.

The House of Lords is debating the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill for England and Wales today ahead of a crucial, although not final, vote tomorrow afternoon.

The 500 pro equal marriage supporters far outnumbered a very small handful of anti equal marriage Christians.

From a lord who wants to marry his own son and fancies his brother, to an ex archbishop who says marriage equality will lead to polygamy and Nazi persecution, the opponents of gay marriage in Britain's House of Lords are numerous and vocal.

So it will be a stormy debate today and tomorrow (3 and 4 June) when the Lords, the unelected upper chamber of the British parliament, get to debate and vote on the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill for England and Wales.

Gay activists are urging everyone who cares about equal marriage to rally outside the UK’s House of Lords as the peers debate the issue.

Their vigil on Monday (3 June) will be a counter protest to one organized by anti-gay Christians who are hoping to get big numbers out.

The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill for England and Wales has already been passed by elected politicians in the House of Commons but the unelected Lords represent a bigger challenge.

Hong Kong's Big Love Alliance, a coalition of LGBT rights campaigners, held a 'bed-in' for same-sex love in a hotel room earlier this week.

Lesbian socialite Gigi Chao booked a room at five-star Excelsior Hotel in Hong Kong's Causeway Bay for an art exhibition and political statement inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 'bed-in' for peace in 1969.

Nepal's Supreme Court found charity backed by Joanna Lumley and Demi Moore detained the woman because husband wanted to 'cure' her of being lesbian

Nepal’s Supreme Court has slammed a world-famous charity which detained a vulnerable woman against her will and tried to 'cure' her of being a lesbian.

The charity Maiti Nepal counts British TV celebrity, actress and campaigner Joanna Lumley as an ambassador and has been supported by Hollywood star Demi Moore, among others. The founder won CNN's hero of the year award in 2010.

The charity is supposed to stop the trafficking of women and girls from Nepal into India where they are forced into prostitution.

Lucy Meadows committed suicide in her home. Coroner says press should be ashamed of their bigotry after they reported her transition

A coroner investigating the suicide of transgender British teacher Lucy Meadows has slammed the media for their ‘ill informed bigotry’.

Meadows killed herself on 19 March, aged 32 – and the hearing today confirmed it was of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Stonewall conference promotes good practice around sexual orientation in workplace

Coronation Street star Charlie Condou is set to speak about being a gay dad at a summit about gay workplace rights.

Condou, who plays a bisexual character in Britain's longest-running TV soap, will be a keynote speaker at Stonewall’s Workplace Conference in Manchester, north west England on 14 June.

He lives with his Canadian boyfriend, Cameron Laux, but is a hands-on dad for his daughter and son, Georgia and Hal, who split their time between him and their mother, the actress Catherine Kanter. The children were conceived through IVF treatment.

Church of England bosses have forced their own leader – Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby – to pull support for straight civil partnerships.

The Church of England is the state religion of Britain and its bishops will have a vote on the legislation when it reaches the House of Lords.

Veteran gay activist Peter Tatchell says UK government is ‘inconsistent, hypocritical and wrong’ by offering same-sex marriage but not straight civil partnerships

The current same-sex marriage bill going through the UK Parliament should be changed to allow for heterosexuals to have civil partnerships, veteran gay activist Peter Tatchell has said.

He is urging Members of Parliament (MPs) to vote for an amendment making the change to the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill for England and Wales which is coming before the House of Commons again today (20 May).

Straight starlets shared a quick lesbian kiss on ITV2 panel show Celebrity Juice

TV straight starlets Kelly Brook and Holly Willoughby shared a steamy kiss on Celebrity Juice last week.

The team captains on the ITV2 panel show were demonstrating how to play Read My Lips – a game involving contestants passing pieces of paper to each other using only their mouths.

Despite a valiant effort, the paper dropped, leaving the two models and television presenters locking lips.

Host Keith Lemon, known for his lewd comedy, pleaded with the girls for an encore - especially as it was Brook's last show.
