Between the ages of 10 and 13, he modeled for such brands as Macy's and Calvin Klein.

But that early career ended abruptly when he got propositioned by a male photographer who offered him $2,500 for sex.

Al Melvin can't think of a single example of when SB 1062 has been needed

CNN's Anderson Cooper had asked a simple question of Arizona State Senator Al Melvin.

Could the Republican lawmaker, who is running for governor of his state, think of a single example where the controversial SB 1062 bill has been needed in  Arizona?

The bill, if signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer, would make it legal for businesses to discriminate against anyone - including LGBTI people - if they say it is for religious reasons.

Melvin, who voted in favor of the anti-gay discrimination bill last week, came up empty.

At least he didn't get the uncontrollable giggles this time.

Another TV star coming out may be nothing new, but when she has had to overcome all the extra challenges Roberts has, it merits applause

While I will continue to argue the African American community doesn’t have a patent on homophobia, it does, however, have a problem with it.

Black homophobia still has a deadly hold on African American life. And while I would like to say its oppressive grip only impacts lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people of African descent, in truth, black homophobia maims the entire community.

For example, to date more than a quarter of a million African Americans have died of AIDS – both straight and gay.
