Says CNN anchor: 'As an adult when I got to know her I came to actually like her and appreciate her'

Joan Rivers got some laughs at Gloria Vanderbilt's expense back in the 70s and 80s but one person who wasn't laughing was the fashion icon's son.

That son grew up to be CNN anchor Anderson Cooper who recalled that period during a segment of his show Thursday (4 September) devoted to Rivers who had died earlier in the day.

'As a kid, I didn’t like her, because she actually made fun of my mom in some jokes when my mom was doing the jeans and stuff,' Cooper confessed.

'... As a little kid, I found it upsetting to see her making fun of my mom.'

Jane Fonda says in a new interview that she was surprised at how much gay men related to her acclaimed 2004 autobiography My Life So Far.

Fonda has been married three times - to director Roger Vadim, politician Tom Hayden and CNN founder Ted Turner - and wrote that she changed herself considerably for each man.

'I decided it was time to come out,' Quest told a crowd on Thursday (21 August) at a gathering of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association in Chicago.

Quest said his 'worst fears' about the disclosure hurting his career 'never materialized' and believes his work is better now 'because I'm honest about who I am.'

The CNN anchor confirms the incident but not a report that it left him in tears

The year was 1982 and Cooper's mom, heiress and businesswoman Gloria Vanderbilt, had invited Bacall to a dinner at her Southampton house for actress Claudette Colbert.

Says person serving him 'looked at me like I was the loneliest, most pathetic person on the planet'

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper may be rich and famous but he's still a hard-working journalist who was on the job on his 47th birthday this week.

After doing a broadcast from Boston, he did the five-hour drive back to New York City and decided to duck into a McDonald's for a late-night birthday meal.

He ordered a Big Mac meal and 'I super-sized it because it was my birthday,' the CNN anchor told David Letterman Wednesday (4 June).

Then things got a little sad.
