'This breaks my heart,' says Eric Jones, the 19-year-old Eagle Scout kicked out this week

The Boy Scouts of America announced on Tuesday (17 July) that it has no plans to lift its ban on gay members after two years of consideration by an 11-person committee.

The announcement comes on the heels of the widely-publicized case of Kansas City-area Eagle Scout Eric Jones, 19, who was immediately fired from his job as a counselor at a scout camp after coming out to the camp director on Sunday (15 July).

Jennifer Tyrrell: 'This movement doesn’t stop because 11 anonymous men behind closed doors made a decision to keep discrimination in place'

Ousted lesbian den leader Jennifer Tyrrell showed up as Boy Scouts of America headquarters in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday (18 July) to deliver more than 300,000 petition signatures calling for an end to the organization's anti-gay policy.

Her delivery comes a day after the BSA announced that after two years  of consideration by an 11-person committee, the Scouts will continue to ban gay members.

David J. Sims says removal of lesbian den mother Jennifer Tyrrell 'is wholly discriminatory'

A member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio River Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) as resigned from the board because of its decision to kick den leader Jennifer Tyrrell out of the organization because she is a lesbian.

David J. Sims said he has a long history of support for BSA but feels the anti-gay  policy is not something he can condone.

Star Trek icon and former scout says anti-gay policy casts 'a long and ugly shadow across the organization'

As a kid, Star Trek icon George Takei was a Boy Scout, a member of Troop 379.

But the openly gay star is speaking out against his former organization which this week, reiterated its stance against allowing gays and lesbians to participate. The group has been under fire for dismissing Ohio den mom Jennifer Tyrrell as leader of her son’s troop because she is a lesbian.

Jennifer Tyrrell takes on Boys Scouts of America for its anti-gay policies

Jennifer Tyrrell had never before been on an airplane.

But she flew from Bridgeport, Ohio, to Los Angeles on Friday to appear at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday (21 April) where she nearly stole the show from the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Betty White and Cher with her heartfelt speech about being ousted as a den mother by the Boy Scouts of America because she is a lesbian.
