New branch in the state of Victoria will take campaign back to the grassroots

Same-sex marriage campaign group Australian Marriage Equality (AME) have launched a new branch in the state of Victoria.

'Support for marriage equality has always been strong in Melbourne, and we aim to channel that support into  more effective lobbying, advocacy and community organizing,' said the new convener of the Victorian AME branch, Carl Katter.

AME Victoria's first initiative will be collecting signatures for a petition for marriage equality to send to state parliament.

Australian campaign group Get Up record response to anti gay marriage ad as a ‘message of hope’

Australian campaign group Get Up have recorded a response to an anti gay marriage advert aimed at voters in Queensland's upcoming state election.

The response features Carl Katter, the half-brother of the leader of Katter's Australia Party who were responsible for the advert that suggests gay marriage is opposed to 'family values'.

Australian Marriage Equality stage benefit for pro-gay-marriage Baptist minister

A Baptist pastor who was sacked from his ministry for supporting the campaign for Australian Marriage Equality will be the subject of a benefit to raise income for him and his young family.

When Reverend Matt Glover told Christians4Equality that 'recognizing same-sex unions will help return marriage to its rightful place in society' he was sacked from his ministry at Lilydale Baptist Church in Melbourne in December last year.

Carl Katter says Jesus would ‘hang out’ with pro-gay church while Vietnam veteran also calls for same-sex marriage

Australian marriage equality advocate Carl Katter has said Jesus would support gay marriage in a speech at church on Christmas Eve.

While the majority of Australians want marriage equality for everyone, it still isn’t law and activists are hoping for a free vote on the issue in parliament next year.
