American Idol alum loses to Arsenio Hall on Celebrity Apprentice

Clay Aiken didn't let coming in second on American Idol more than a decade ago stop him from going on to become one of the biggest stars ever to emerge from that reality show competition.

Still, the openly gay singer was hoping to finish first on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice after making it to the finals of Donald Trump's reality show and facing off against former talk show host Arsenio Hall.

'My mother's here tonight and she's already sat through me losing once,' Aiken told the live studio audience before Trump made his final decision.

Star Trek icon George Takei is one of the most famous married gay men in the world and an outspoken activist for marriage equality.

So it was a little bit curious that Takei would agree to participate in the current season of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump who came out very strongly against same-sex marriage during his flirtation with a presidential run last year.

Takei, however, is using his participation in part to help change Trump's mind on the issue and said this week the two have scheduled a lunch next month to talk it over.

Openly gay stars will participate in Donald Trump's reality competition on NBC

Donald Trump came out very strongly against same-sex marriage during his flirtation with a presidential run last year. But that isn't stopping George Takei, one of the most famous married gay men in the world, from participating in the upcoming season of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.

Also taking part in the reality competition - where celebrities compete to win prize money for their favorite charity - is openly gay singer Clay Aiken.
